The Members Church of God International (MCGI) in Auckland volunteered to donate blood at NZ Blood Service Takapuna on August 16 & 23, 2018. Twenty-two registered church blood donors attended the event resulting in twenty successful donations. MCGI’s quarterly blood donation drive is an international movement initiated by the church’s Presiding minister Brother Eliseo Soriano and Vice Presiding minister Brother Daniel Razon. Brethren all over the world participate in this mission to follow the bible’s teachings of doing good deeds to others as stated in Galatians 6:10; “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith”. Did you know that one blood donation can help save up to three lives? According to NZ blood, they filter the donated blood and separate it into red blood cells, platelets and plasma. These blood products are used to treat different types of patients like people who have haematological disorders, accident and burn patients, people undergoing surgery labour and many more. On the event, NZ blood’s donor recruiter Ms. Beth Brannen visited the members donating blood and expressed her gratitude for their continuous support. Written by: Sister Afe Fernandez
Members Church of God International (MCGI) New Zealand initiated a bloodletting activity last May 29, 2018 at NZ Blood Donor Service Centre at Manukau. Brethren from MCGI Papakura chapter volunteered to the event, most of them went straight from work to grab the opportunity to do good. There were a total of nine bags of blood collected during the event. According to New Zealand Blood Service, “It isn't every day you can do something to save someone's life - but that's exactly what you do every time you donate blood. Blood is a priceless gift - a lifesaver.” Do you know that the biggest use of blood products in NZ is in cancer treatment? Around 28% of all blood donations are used by cancer patients. MCGI’s Overall Servants Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon promote and conduct such advocacy regularly on every part of the world as taught in the Bible in Galatians 6:10; "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." The blood donation effort is regularly held quarterly. Written by: Sister Jona Enriquez-Panganiban
On May 3 and May 10 2018, the Members Church of God International (MCGI) in Auckland attended the blood donation drive at NZ Blood Services Takapuna (NZBS) to donate blood. As part of the church’s doctrine to do good unto others, the brethren from Auckland decided to make time and effort to support the blood letting event which resulted in 24 attendees and 19 bags of successful donation. Another batch of blood donors of MCGI Auckland came on May 10, 2018 at NZBS Takapuna to donate blood. MCGI in Auckland have been quarterly donating blood since 2013 and the number of donors continue to increase. There are now 47 blood donors registered in NZBS Takapuna. The continuous support of the church is helping NZBS to achieve its goal of increasing the donation numbers to meet the growing demands of blood products across the country. According to NZBS, 29,000 patients are treated with blood products in New Zealand each year but only four percent of eligible New Zealanders donate. One of the main benefits of regularly donating blood is that it lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases like heart attack. But apart from the physical benefits, the brethren of MCGI are motivated to give blood because it is an opportunity to do good unto others as written in the holy scriptures in Titus 3:14; “And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.” Written by: Sister Marfel Niocena-Fernandez
