The Members Church of God International (MCGI) in Auckland volunteered to donate blood at NZ Blood Service Takapuna on August 16 & 23, 2018. Twenty-two registered church blood donors attended the event resulting in twenty successful donations. MCGI’s quarterly blood donation drive is an international movement initiated by the church’s Presiding minister Brother Eliseo Soriano and Vice Presiding minister Brother Daniel Razon. Brethren all over the world participate in this mission to follow the bible’s teachings of doing good deeds to others as stated in Galatians 6:10; “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith”. Did you know that one blood donation can help save up to three lives? According to NZ blood, they filter the donated blood and separate it into red blood cells, platelets and plasma. These blood products are used to treat different types of patients like people who have haematological disorders, accident and burn patients, people undergoing surgery labour and many more. On the event, NZ blood’s donor recruiter Ms. Beth Brannen visited the members donating blood and expressed her gratitude for their continuous support. Written by: Sister Afe Fernandez
North Island New Zealand Brethren from all Locale Chapters in the North Island of New Zealand participated in the much awaited Family Day and Sportsfest Event held at the Otara Pool and Leisure Centre last August 18, 2018. The activities revolved around the theme “New Zealand Kasama Sa Paggawa”. Through the act of participating in the activities held on this day, not only have the brethren exercised their bodies physically, the brethren found the need to become closer with one another, and were able to see each other and bond despite coming from farther places. Brethren from different Locale Chapters and Groups in the North Island were divided into different teams of which they played for. There were a total of four teams, each being represented by a specific team colour (Green Team, Blue Team, Gold Team, Red Team). In preparation for the highly anticipated Sportsfest event, brethren from the Locale Chapters in the North Island made the additional effort to come together with one another to practice before the event took place. Throughout the day, brethren participated in various sports activities prepared for the event which included Zumba, Cheerdancing, Dodgeball, Volleyball, Basketball and challenges which required vital skills such as teamwork and cooperation. With the variety of events planned for this day, all present brethren were able to gladfully participate in the event. Isaiah 40:31 King James Version (KJV) But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Finally, the results for the overall winning team were announced, the awarding ceremony took place and a picture taking session commenced to conclude the event.
Brethren from the small country of New Zealand gathered at YMCA in Christchurch last 15th of July 2018 to celebrate the country’s Thanksgiving. They started small in numbers gathering in their homes for the weekly Thanksgiving. Since then, the brethren all over New Zealand have been increasing through the years. Now, there are seven locales in New Zealand located in Auckland, Papakura, Hamilton, Feilding, Wellington, Christchurch and Ashburton. Jeremias 30:19 “Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small." Over the past years, Members of Church of God International in New Zealand have been active with a multitude of activities including social services such as Blood donation, Tree planting and Elderly care. They also have division and inter-local activities such as Couples’ Night, Sportsfest, Family Day, Team Building, Buffet Fund Raisers and Sabbath Day Celebration. Moreover, they are also active in propagation activities like flyer distributions, Bible Studies and Mass Indoctrination. I Peter 1:17 " Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear..." The brethren of New Zealand as humble servants, offered Thanksgiving to God on this day to express gratitude for all of His unfathomable blessings. To God be the glory!
