Christchurch, New Zealand

The Godley Head Walk track offers some of Canterbury’s breathtaking coastal views such as old coastal dwellings that are used to be built into the hillside as well in the rocks and the sea below. There are also a penguin colony, bizarre old baches and some of New Zealand’s military history that you can find as you walk on the track of Godley Head which will take up to 3 hours round trip.

Everyone had mixed emotions as they went through the walkway of Godley Head feeling like looking forward in seeing the penguin colony. Smile on their faces were beaming even though the trip have brought them into sweats. Everybody was amused when they had the chance to have a closer look on the military history written on the walls of the buildings and that are still there. The hillside view was so stunning that it had them take selfies.

Overall experience of the Youth Ministry of Locale of Christchurch was unutterable because they had the chance to again see God’s wonderful creations that are so breathtakingly beautiful and unimaginable.

Thirty-one volunteers from MCGI New Zealand came together and took part in the Clean Up Drive held in the Papakura Town Centre by the Manukau Beautification Trust last September 8, 2018.

With this God given opportunity, the members spent their time and grabbed this opportunity to continue doing good by supporting community efforts. The members who volunteered diligently assisted in this event by cleaning up their assigned area.

The brethren were actively involved in picking up the rubbish, eliminating the weeds from the cement cracks, sweeping up any unwanted glass debris, and helped clean up the garden area.

As the brethren have learned, it is important for us to continue to strive to do good in every way possible, to whomever it may be. It is strongly encouraged by our leaders Brother Eli Soriano and Brother Daniel Razon to execute good deeds even to men outside the Church, as it says in Galatians 6:10; "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." and in 1 Thessalonians 5:15; “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.”

The efforts of the members were deeply appreciated by the team leaders and organizers of the Clean Up Drive, who stopped by and sincerely thanked the members for their participation in the community event.

On this day, we were able to support the advocacy of Brother Daniel Razon that, “Ang paggawa ng mabuti ay hindi magbubunga ng masama (Good deeds will bear no evil fruit).” To God be the glory!

Give blood. Save lives.

Twelve successful donors lined up to donate blood at the grounds of the Blood Donor Centre in Manukau during the Blood Donation drive last August 28, 2018.

MCGI volunteers rolled up their sleeves to support Blood Donation drive.
Brethren from MCGI believe that giving blood can save lives. When we give blood, we are offering a part of our lives to save the life of someone else.

It is one way we obey the law, which is to love thy neighbour as  thyself (Mark 12:31) and Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). If we are called to lay down our lives for others, we can surely give some of our blood to help save those in need of them.

Not only are MCGI members encouraged to do good for others, but Brother Eli Soriano and Brother Daniel Razon call on everyone to grab every God-given opportunity that they may come across or they may find to do good.
