“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” – James 1:27 (KJV) A year has gone by unbeknown to us, but as the days fly by quickly, The Members Church of God International (MCGI) will not stop and be hindered in doing God’s will and commandment. Brethren from all throughout New Zealand continued and will continuously pursue the will of the Lord with God’s help and mercy. Helping the needy, the poor, the lame, the old and the such, shall be rewarded by God himself in the last days. As it is written in Hebrews 13:16 (NIV), “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”. By doing such deeds, God Himself is pleased as the act of kindness towards others render God as the one Almighty God above all. In reminiscence of the Good Deeds that the Brethren have done throughout last year and this year, we dedicate this to God the Father and to every soul that has received His blessing. The Home for the Elderly as defined by some is a retirement home and a multi-residence facility specially made for the elderly people. Although uncommon in the Philippines, Brethren, who are only just mere strangers to the elderly residents of each facilities treated them as family as they entertain them with songs and different activities. Monthly visits to Elder Care Facilities were held and hosted by the Brethren in partnership with the staffs present in their respective facilities nationwide. Brethren from all chapters of New Zealand, although far from each other, shared the same sentiments, values and faith that they have received as they continue to pursue the will of the Lord. These visits also served as a valuable lesson to the brethren as they have witnessed the elderly people come and go for they have reached their peak in life. Life, a gift to us from God served them well as they have fulfilled their purpose in life, to have a family, to prosper, to grow old and return to where they began. Saddened by these unexpected events, both the staffs and the brethren still continued to visit and entertain the elders that remain in their respective facilities throughout the country. As it is written in Acts 20:35 (ESV), “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” By doing so, in helping the weak, the elderly, the lame and the poor, not only are we helping them, we are glorifying the Almightiness of God the Father.
